Rebel Wolves, the studio founded by veterans of The Witcher series, has shared new details about the time-based quest and choice system in its vampire-themed role-playing game The Blood of Dawnwalker. The details were announced via the official PlayStation Blog.
The game is set in the small village of Laslea, under the shadow of plague, disease and vampires. Players control a character named Coen, who is trying to protect his family and his village. The story begins on a day when vampires arrive in the village for the “Blood Rite,” demanding blood from every adult.
The most striking aspect of The Blood of Dawnwalker is the broad freedom of choice it offers players. Coen can go to the village healer to find medicine for his mother, fight the warriors occupying the village, or set out to search for a missing neighbor. Each choice affects the flow of the game and the characters’ fates differently.
According to the studio, this structure offers a system in which time functions as a genuine in-game resource. Players decide which quests to take on within a limited timeframe, and choosing one path often means leaving other possibilities behind.
Rebel Wolves is made up of developers who worked on The Witcher and similar open-world productions. The Blood of Dawnwalker, the studio’s debut project, aims to be an ambitious entry in the dark fantasy genre.
